Team Rector Designate: Revd Dr Hester Jones
Subject to legalities, we are delighted to announce that the next Team Rector will be the Revd Dr Hester Jones.
Hester writes:
'"My background was previously in tertiary education (lecturing in English in Liverpool and Bristol). I was ordained in the Diocese of Bristol, serving there as Curate and Associate Priest in St Mary Redcliffe, and then as Vicar of Abbots Leigh and Leigh Woods. Most recently, I served as senior chaplain and Dean of Chapel, as well as teacher, in Winchester College.
I am grateful and excited to be returning to parish ministry in Witney; I grew up in Oxford and was baptised and confirmed in the Diocese, so it feels like something of a homecoming. I love choral music, and also relish the prospect of working within a wide range of different styles of liturgy and worship, represented by the wider Benefice. I very much look forward to getting to know ministry team members and parishioners.
I have two adult children, Barney and Constance, of whom the latter currently lives and studies in Oxford. My three dogs, Pip, Josie and Hamish, will be moving with me, and look forward to discovering the beautiful Rectory gardens."
As yet we cannot confirm Hester's start date.
